Like practically everyone else, I have stacks of old work computers and home computers and work-home hybrid computers that I’ve accumulated over the years. When switching from an old wretched steam-driven computer to the next streamlined screamin’ machine, the usual approach has been to dump all the files from the old computer to an external hard drive, then copy the useful files down from the drive to the new computer. The less useful ones get “archived”, usually on that same hard drive. You know, just in case.

Of course, I don’t delete the files I’ve downloaded — I keep them…
